Demo Days are here again! We know kayaks, and we appreciate the opportunity to share the various features and benefits of each model when you visit us. However, what’s good for the goose may not be good for the gander. One model may provide a higher deck in the front, one might fit differently around the hips. One may track better, while another may maneuver easier. How does the back rest feel? Where can you store a water bottle for easy access? Is there ample room to stow away and access a day pack? Do any of these matter to you? Only you can tell.
These are small differences that can turn the purchase of a kayak that everyone is talking about into the wrong purchase for your paddling needs. The only way to find out what fits YOUR paddling needs is “Butts in Boats”, aka, paddling on the water. Our Demo Days are the perfect opportunity to try out a few kayaks in 10 minute segments and learn how they fit your body type and paddling style. Not only are you going to learn about how each kayak fits and paddles, but with our staff down by the water with you, you are going to receive some paddling knowledge as well! This alone would be worth the price of admission.
Speaking of which, our demo days are $20, with the fee applied toward your purchase when you purchase a kayak. So it’s more like a deposit. We have Demo Day events and we offer demo paddles by appointment should our schedule not fit yours. Our schedule for Demo Days for 2018 is as follows:
Aurora: April 28, May 12, June 6, June 30, and July 21
Rockford: May 6, May 19 (Fishing Kayaks Only), June 2, June 24, and July 11
The Location of our Demo Paddles varies based on water conditions. We have Recreation, Day Touring, and Fishing Kayaks, and Stand Up Paddlboards available. In Aurora we use the Fox River or Jericho Lake, and in Rockford the Rock River or Windsor Lake. The best way to learn what fits your paddling needs is to paddle. After all, you’re the one paddling, not us. And we want happy paddlers! So come out and learn what fits your needs and meet other paddlers as well. To register for any of our demo paddles you can visit our events page or give us a call at 630-506-5706 in Aurora or 815-636-9066 in Rockford. Happy paddling!
