Rockford, IL Area Trails

Sinnissippi Golf Course: Park District and volunteers groom trails for classic and skate – Loop is just over 1 mile – Good place to snowshoe – New… Fat Bike Trails! Updated trail reports are posted on the NI Nordic Facebook page

Aldeen Golf Course: Park District and volunteers groom trails for classic and skate – A couple trails of 1-1.25 miles provide a 2.5 mile loop. Updated trail reports are posted on the NI Nordic Facebook page

Rock Cut State Park: Home to the longest cross country ski trail system in Northern IL! Skate tracks are irregularly groomed – Classic tracks are not groomed but enough skiers use it for a trails to form – There are great hills for snowshoeing as well

Deer Run Forest Preserve: Relatively flat are – Use River Road lot

Forest Preserves of Winnebago County: Terrific paths to break your own cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails

Aurora, IL Area Trails

Arrowhead Country Club: Groomed trails for cross-country skiing

Nelson Lake: Located in Dick Young Forest Preserve: 5- 12 K of un-groomed trails

Forest Preserve District of Kane County: Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are allowed at all Kane County forest preserves, except areas closed due to restoration work – Please stay on trails – Please note: The Forest Preserve District of Kane County does not groom trails

Forest Preserve District of Dupage County: Winter activities at various Forest Preserves

Red Oak Nature Center: Located on Route 25 in North Aurora – Has great trails for both cross-country skiing and snowshoeing

Fabyan Forest Preserve: Located on the east side of Route 25 (Just north of Fabyan Parkway) – Has great trails for both cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve: Great trails that feel as if you are in the woods in Wisconsin

Southern Wisconsin Area Trails

Nordic Trail and McMillerLocated in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine – Regularly groomed – Terrific skiing and Nordic Trail has a sled hill – Call (262)594-6202 for daily trail reports – This is a Wisconsin State Park so parking and trail fees apply

Scuppernong: Located in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine on County Highway ZZ just east of Highway 67 north of the Village of Eagle – Three trail loops ranging from 2-5 miles for classic skiing only – This is a Wisconsin State Park so parking and trail fees apply

Lake Kegonsa State Park: Located 7 minutes off I 90/39 from exit 147 – Beautiful scenery in a relatively flat area.

Blue Mound State Park:  Located about 25 miles west of Madison – The beautiful scenery itself is worth the drive!
