Back in 2015 we were in Madison at the Winter Reps show. Our buyer told me he had a private appointment to see a fly-fishing apparel line called Simms Fishing. I had never heard of Simms Fishing before and my initial thought was if he is willing to spend the time driving, then by all means go check it out.
I am so glad he did. I am not a fly-fisherman. I do get a line wet from time to time though. However, I love the apparel for reasons that are not fishing specific. Weather specific, yes. Their apparel offerings run the gamut from hats and sandals to rain gear, waders, and apparel. At Rocktown we made a splash with their outerwear, namely apparel such as their guide shirts and pants, along with protective clothing such as insect and sun protection shirts. The Isle Pants for women and the Guide Pants for men are absolute must haves for paddling. They are perfect when it is not quite warm enough for shorts, with water wicking and UPF 50 incorporated in the design. By far my favorite piece is their Cold Weather Pant. Flannel lined, water repellent, these are my go to on wet winter days, or better yet when I get the chance to ice skate outside.
Simms apparel is made with Fly Fishing in mind, but performs just as well without a rod in your hand. Both of our locations have Simms clothing in stock. Next time you’re in, check out the little known apparel line designed for fishing. You just may find out it has designs for you.
